Stoker is a technically brilliant but polarizing film. If you appreciate Park Chan-wook’s style, you may admire the symbolism and boldness. But if, like me, you prefer suspense that stays in the psychological realm without crossing into disturbing fetishism, the second half might leave you unsettled for the wrong reasons.
By “wrong reasons,” I mean unease that comes less from psychological depth and more from shock value — scenes that drift into taboo imagery or Uncomfortable Fetishization. For me, this distracted from the story instead of enriching it.
