One star because it won best picture. Otherwise maybe a three. Mildly amusing. Nothing original. For some reason it reminded me of My Cousin Vinny and I didn’t even see My Cousin Vinny. Lessons learned. Directors probably shouldn’t do their own editing. Cut to black and roll credits with no sound doesn’t make your movie serious. I did laughed at the funny parts. Acting was good. Engaging characters. But Best Picture?! C’mon. Remember when Crash beat Brokeback. This is even worse. And the greatest film since The Master’s Godfather I &II, Megalopolis didn’t receive a single nomination! This will be the legacy of the 2025 Oscars.

Tried to be smart. It was dumb. Think Dude Where’s My Hot tub.

This is a big, long, Oscary movie. It’s gonna win a bunch. Really ambitious. Like studios used to make but not a studio movie at all. Great story. Great acting. Great score. Beautiful to look at. Big screen type movie. Turns out something called VistaVision is gorgeous. But The Brutalist also somehow has a really small time filmmaker feel to it. Ballsy.

Actually Zero. I will never forget this movie. It is officially the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I hated every single thing about it. I used to like Doris Day but now I hate her. The other Doris Day movies I used to like, I now hate. And now I even hate her singing. And I think I even hate Rock Hudson because I heard they were friends.

Every aspect of this movie was great except for maybe one; plot. I think it might have been there but I’m not 100% sure. Kevin Costner did a great job as Robert Duvall.

I’ve seen some bad movies in my time and this was one of them. It’s like The Road with Pauly Shore. Standout Robert California is dependable as always.

I tried to like it. I wanted to like it. I searched for reasons to like it. Then I got sleepy.

Not art. Nothing to say to us about us. No theme. What’s to discuss? Loved Eggers other stuff. Especially The Witch. Northman was brilliant. Wanted to love The Lighthouse but I have this suspicion I was the problem and not the film. First 45 minutes or so I was on board. Then William Dafoe showed up and it kinda turned into The Exocist for a while. But all in all, this one was just a Dracula movie. Yeah it was pretty to look at. Had a cool Gothic vibe. But really just a monster movie. And if all you’re going to do is make a movie, at least make it entertaining. Wasn’t really even scary. Lots of people throwing up. Kinda boring actually.
