BRAVO! EXTREMELY RELEVANT social commentary! The truth is always hard to receive from those who are on the giving end of oppressive actions, OR, who can never understand a particular perspective or lived experience. This film offers tremendous context for the experiences of most, if not all, Black folks in America (since this is my locale).
What makes this film debut of this particular commentary so important is the subtle but clear call to action by other groups to humbly hear Black folk's experiences in ways they've never heard of them before, ponder and adjust their positionality, if we are all truly interested in achieving an equitable, democratic society. We have a long way to go but this film is a great start- using the big screen to highlight critically important nuance to the Black experience of civility and wellness.
