This film had the potential to flip the genre and cover some new territory, but it disappointingly resorts to achingly tired tropes and plot points again and again. I wanted it to venture into serious contemplation on consciousness and evil. It didn’t. It essentially comes across like video sequences ripped from a video game, which is ultimately what this wants to be. Nothing new or worthwhile.
