As a 62-year old AAM, I am probably not the stereotypical binge-watching TV addict. You wouldn’t know that if you observed me completely addicted to this series, staying up until 3:15am one night and 2am another night. Zellweger’s acting is so incredibly powerful and good it simply defies description. The writing is powerful and gripping and the various sub-stories captivating though I found one in particular not that believable. And, I found the treatment of the gay relationships/love refreshing, authentic and believable (I’m not gay so I’ll yield to the gay community on the authenticity ...certainly felt that way to me. Lastly, each character felt incredibly accessible. I could easily sit down with each and have a wonderful conversation. I read elsewhere that the critical weren’t kind to this program. I don the know their standards, but if MY engagement is any indicator of the quality of the show, then critics clearly are missing something.
