I was a big fan of the original test drive games and was so excited when solar crown was announced. My god what a massive disappointment this game is. I pre ordered the gold edition so I could have early access for the first day I couldn’t even log in. Then for the next couple of days all I could do was drive in free roam because every time I attempted a race I got server errors. Why have they made solar crown always online its garbage. I am now able to compete in most races with only occasional server errors. The AI in this game is terrible the npc cars just ram you like you not there causing you to spin or hit an object and come to an almost complete stop resulting in you losing the race. Not that it matters, winning or coming in last place hardly affects the amount of credits you receive which is around 20k well thats great when some of the cars are 12 million credits. They have made solar crown so grindy Im currently level 42 and have explored 97% of the map mainly due to thats they only thing I could do for the first few days. After a week of playing I am getting very bored. There are plenty of other issues with the game sometimes its looks great I’m playing on a Ps5 other times it looks like a Ps2 game I've had frame rate drops things disappearing npc cars ghosting through other cars. The character models are shocking they don’t speak and the hair and facial hair are just embarrassing. The car show rooms are bland boring and generic every time you log in you spawn in the solar hotel and have to do a slow walk before you can drive. TDU2 was a flawed game but god it was a masterpiece compared to this crap. What made Test drive great was it’s uniqueness and the ability to just drive and explore. Solar crown is just about online races and stupid clan battles that nobody asked for. Streets or Sharps no thanks. The only positives for this game is the map is pretty decent and is fun to explore and the arcade handling is also enjoyable. I hope that Solar crown is not the death of test drive and it can be salvaged but there are so many things they need to fix before it even gets close to TDU2 let alone surpassing it. My last gripe only 3 Jap cars wheres the Impreza’s Evo’s and Skyline’s.
