I’m all for an action flick with good sequencing, decent acting and a more or less plausible plot. Regardless of any inconsistency in how the movie was unfolding (Maggie seems to be invincible even though she looks like she weighs no more than 115lbs, if that) it was all well and good until the absolutely unnecessary ‘romantic’ interlude between Keaton and our leading lady. It was a gross reminder that no movie churned out by Hollywood isn’t complete unless a guy, no matter how old, gets to sleep with the leading lady, just because. So cliche. Totally throws off the flow because even though Keaton is way past his prime, somehow, she got talked into this ridiculous sub-plot that does nothing but objectify her. Other than that it’s all right for a movie night.

A bit convoluted and trying to be relevant after all these years. Not sure what to make of it. Casting seemed ‘off’ and the lack of storyline trying to play off the original movie never really connected. Three stars for Keanu Reeves & Carrie Ann Moss bringing their original swag to a less than stellar production and still having chemistry. But everything else is a disjointed mess. Some movies should not be resurrected and this is one of them.
