AOT reflects a period in cinematography when stories were crafted to align with the rapid evolution of societal values. However, these changes progressed too quickly for universal acceptance, often facing rejection. Initially, it felt as though everyone was on board, but societal transformation doesn't occur uniformly or effortlessly.
It’s fascinating to consider how people in the distant future might view our era. They might characterize it as the time humanity shifted from worshiping deities to idolizing the individual. Yet, society struggled to digest such a massive shift, leading to backlash (Trump 2025). The utopian ideals—egalitarianism, victimization awareness, empathy, acceptance of femininity, and the rise of strong women—seemed like a blink lasting only from about 2017 to 2024.
As for the characters, I found them unrelatable, except for the girls. The male characters who survived until the end came across as weak and unpleasant.
I didn’t enjoy the story either. While it aligns with what many might desire during a time of "human deification," it lacked depth. No true hero emerged, and the narrative felt flat in its attempt to portray everyone as equal. That approach diminished its appeal.
The only aspect I genuinely appreciated was how the story was told and the quality of its graphics.
