I found this drama compelling in so many ways ! The acting was superb, the plot line intriguing, the ending heart rending! Knowing very little of Korean history, this show led me to investigate the era. My favorite character was Gu Dong Mae, as I felt his was the most transformative in the story. He is a man full of rage, with no family, no ties to Joseon..except his obsession with the noble lady. The actor was able to convey his emotions with his eyes, even while keeping his facial expressions stoic. A tour de force! Each of the five major actors was pitch perfect!
