Like many of you I was a big fan of the national treasure movies growing up, and when I heard that they were going to make a TV series, I was genuinely excited. Yet when I watched the first couple of episodes I was disappointed. I thought it would get better, but spoiler alert.... I did not. This TV series was incredibly bad. Not so bad it's good, but so bad it's bad. Now don't get me wrong this series does have good ideas. Like looking for missing Mayan treasure, while fighting bad guys sounds like a great idea. Yet it was terribly executed. The characters don't feel real, and they feel more like personality traits, and less like persons.
Plus I can name at least 3 characters where if you were to take them out of the story, the plot will not be affected. There are also points where the good & bad guys use too much advance technology to solve there problems. Going back to the first national treasure movie, yes they used advance tech to get break into the capital building, to steal the Declaration of Independence. But after they used the technology it wasn't used again, and the main characters were forced to be on there own, with just there brains. That creates excitement in the story. Yet in the tv series the bad guys just go onto a computer to find the good guys. That is just lazy storytelling. Be creative, and find other ways for the bad guys to find the good guys.
So to sum it up, this series is bad because of lazy writing. Simple as that.
