Watching this movie felt very uncomfortable. It made me cringe a bit. It's not funny as what you think. It forces itself to be funny. The woman-faking pregnancy trope is a bit outdated. I forced myself to watch this but it just kept getting worse as the movie went on.

I sat through the whole movie and watched it. I could not enjoy it at all. The plot was very much not a new storyline. It also had a lot of stereotypes about Mexico and you can definitely tell this wasn't really made by someone who studied or knew of the Mexican culture. Really was not for me. The way they handled the trans storyline was really bad. I watched this because it won an award but I don't see how. The acting was not as top tier as what I was expecting. When they break out and sing, it's in the most odd places. It's not as subtle as most musicals are. I would say this is more of a horribly written comedy than a musical.

It is different from the OG but the approach they took in this show was good. You can tell it is made for new generation and not for those who grew up with the OG. When watching the show keep that in mind. I see people holding it up the OG but it is set for a different generation.
