I read the book and felt like it was a 3.5. I was hoping where the book misstepped the writers in the series could improve it. They didn't. They ruined it. They try so hard to be diverse and open that the series loses its entire authenticity. At every opportunity, they try to ram it down the audience's throat. If you've ever been to rural Colorado this is not how it goes. But casting doesn't try to sprinkle in a little diversity they pour it on super heavy until you choke on it. Casting also blows it in most of the characters too. Like casting a 25-year-old man to play Skylar Summerhill. Every scene with him is awkward and creepy being he's so much older. The writers try to add more depth to each character but what happens is the main character gets lost with the 25 side plots. It's just too much and ruins the simple charm of the book If you want to see an LA or NY fantasy of what it's like in rural Colorado check It out. If you were hoping for a genuine romance you might want to pass.
