Goodbye June is surprisingly not predictable, but an honest look at family life through the experience of dealing with death. That such a meaningful exploration of a difficult topic is so well-crafted by a novice, very young writer, is impressive. I can't decide whether the absence of other people in the entirely empty hospital is due to budgetary issues or dedigned purposely to invite the audience to focus on, and become part of, the family's experiences.

George Clooney's portrayal of a middle-aged movie star's self-examination is tender, honest, and gripping. The film flows seamlessly between reality, and memory as he faces the truth about his life and relationships as well as the more existential question, was it worth the sacrifice. Adam Sandler's character, is more than a supporting role, but acts as a foil to Jay Kelly. He provides depth to a character that could have been overlooked. Great acting all around. This poignant and unique film leads us on a journey and involves us in their struggle to reconcile past mistakes, and sacrifices while recognizing contributions and successes.

[Don't read if you haven't viewed first.) There are times when a story is enhanced by an open-ended, "nonresolution-resolution," but this is not one of them. Excellent cast, great writing and directing, but not an effective film experience overall.

This is a powerful film with powerful performances by Ryder and Pepper. AA and Al-Anon have saved lives for decades. This film explores the tragedy of alcoholism for the addict and family. Hope and redemption are possible.

Very interesting plot, characters, and writing.

This is is not only beautifully costumed and filmed, but the script, acting, and characters are quite well done. It's a lovely, entertaining film without explicit or violent scenes which is quite refreshing.

MEGAN LEAVEY is a fine movie based on a true story. Grab the tissues! I loved it and recommend it as a great family film.

I wonder what this film would be like for a viewer who, if it's possible, had no knowledge of the Holocaust or Auschwitz. Understanding this film depends upon the viewer's knowledge of what was happening behind the walls separating a bountiful vegetable and flower garden of a boisterous family from the horrors, starvation, and deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. The juxtaposition of a bright, beautiful family life against the backdrop of smoke stacks and the sounds of agony, demands that the viewer fill in those scenes of human misery that we only see in our minds eye.

What a fabulous screen adaptation of Alice Walker's novel, the original film, and the Broadway musical! It's never easy to bring the experience of a live Broadway musical to the screen, but this film succeeds in preserving the elements of a musical, using dancers, choreography, and dream sequences, in a way that involves the audience in the lives and hearts of the characters.

Not enough plot. Didn't need to have reminiscent scenes of the incidents immediately following the incidents. Even Morgan Freeman's character seemed bored with the whole thing.
