Well worth watching and I believe in the spirit of Jane Austen's novels.
My complaint. The never ending obsession of PBS to be so PC. The presence of the character of a Negro physician falling in love with one of the female characters is ludicrous in that time period with people of that social milieu.

Interesting show with a different approach. The character of Astrid is wonderfully played.
Criticisms: Very PC, virtually signally. One would think that over half of the Paris police force is non White. That gets very tiresome.

Outstanding acting by everyone involved. The people seemed real. too often many of today's Westerns are merely hippy type cowboys and a PC script. Although this show has plenty of females and Blacks it is done in a convincing manner.
Final shootout is a bit much for my taste.
