My review would be honest but somewhat grey.
Positive:
I liked the core idea of the filmโit had a strong concept that connected art, criticism, and pain in a unique way. The tribute to Guru Dutt was a nice touch, and moments like Denny offering flowers to his poster felt poetic. Dulquer Salmaanโs acting was fine; he showed a calm, slightly strange energy that made you sense something was off beneath the surface. Nilaโs acting was okay tooโshe wasnโt overly dramatic, which sometimes worked to keep things subtle. The film had a quiet, intense tone visually that suited the story well. Overall, the film had a soulful idea and tried to say something different.
Negative:
But the way they unfolded the story killed the suspense. They didnโt commit to a clear point of viewโneither fully from Dennyโs side nor from the policeโsโso the tension just disappeared. The backstory was shown too late, at the very end, like a movie within a movie, instead of being revealed slowly in the middle and then connected back at the end. This made the film feel flat and predictable because we werenโt given enough time to process or feel the impact of his past. Nilaโs character lacked emotional depth; she noticed strange things about Denny but brushed them off without digging deeper. When she was tied up in front of Denny, she seemed too calmโno shock, no fear, no betrayal. She didnโt try to explain herself or show any real emotion, which made it hard to connect with her. It felt like the story was a fine wine that was poured out too earlyโgood idea, but poor execution.
