Let’s start with the good. I see the vision for the series and I appreciate its take on different black personality as they rise from their individual struggles. The visual quality is really good as well. This is by no mean a replica of any one show that I have seen due to the previous mention of it being a predominantly black show with so many walks of life implemented in it compared to other shows which would only give you one or two of these scenarios with a wider mixer of ethnicities playing specific roles.
Now for the not so good. The script seems very improvised as characters often were a bit repetitive in the dialogue. It was really annoying, especially when orders were being given and every character seemed like they always wanna challenge authority and ask questions for no darn reason. There were also points where the video stability could have been better.
My favorite character is Mallory
My least favorite is Angel
(Both answers based on their script and choices as it relates to the beats and intention behind of the portrayal of the character)
My next least favorite is Kimmie’s mother IYKYK
The truth is if we want to see black lives represented on screen we need to see all shades of it. The good, the bad, the Beauty in Black.
I hope the script and directing of the actors improve for season two which I’m about to watch, as I do enjoy the concept and what it could be.
