Like spending a hundred afternoons with Paul McCartney, hearing story after story, insight after insight, gem after gem. I read his commentary aloud, then we look at the photos of people and memorabilia, then my wife calls up the tune on her phone. Some of the most interesting bits are stories from songs I’ve not heard before. Well done from start to finish. As with actual conversation, it’s not just the man saying this is what this song means. It’s his memories of time and place and people and what was going on in the world at the time. Prepare to have some myths dashed, rumors rehashed and to see the man and his mates in probably more light, shadow and nuance than we have a right to see.
