Unfortunately for me this show highlighted everything that was wrong with eighties Britain. I couldn't find anything likeable about Vincent ( the lead character ) so rather than connect with the show I felt completely disconnected. Now in fairness my personal view of Maggie's pomp shouldn't tarnish the show. But this series does celebrate the me, me , me and greed is good era, so if you like the excess that was the eighties then fill your boots. If not then avoid.

Entertaining enough. Doesn't ask much of the viewer as not particularly high brow. Rather than highlight the cons of the show if you want an exciting, sometimes intense triller this show will more than satisfy. One minor point, Peter ( the main male lead ) states in one scene, Yugoslavia hasn't been a country since world war two?....small ( but valid ) point, but it's the small things that can really make a difference. It will also provide a useful barometer of the shows often feeble script. I am not someone who reveals the plot but if you enjoy conspiracy based political thrillers that are uncomplicated then you will enjoy this show.

Really wanted to like this film, had all the ingredients. Springsteen, racism, hardship, adolescence, traditional Pakistani values against Eighties UK, boy mets girl, and Rob Brydon with a dodgy cockney accent. I did love that moment when he first heard Springsteen, that emotion, that realisation that someone else says all things you feel at that time, that I loved. I just felt it had more to offer but failed to deliver, but that's just me, I imagine there are many to whom this film will very much resonate, and rightly so. The cast are well chosen and Kulvinder Ghir is excellent as Javed's Dad. Shame we don't see him in more roles as he always delivers.
