If there were more stars to be given I would. By chance, this piece of art was lent to me. It had a note inside and I felt odd having this book in my hand, there was a message from mother to daughter.. Story narrated by Death...it seemed odd to be chosen as a gift to... However when I read it (over night, because I couldn't put it down) I understood. I read it with held breath and didn't dare not to return it. The deaths, the sorrows, the strength, the love ...wonderfully written story.

I read a cz translation. Through this book I could word my thoughts and understand them, it resonates with my feeling of the period, and how lucky I am, living here and now not needing to make life/death decision based on pressure, bylaws and judgement. It proves that emotions are not the best advisors and how necessary is to be able to escape reality through knowledge, books and friends. I recommend reading the original. Admittedly, the cz translation could have been more open to cz expressions, the sentence structure might have been revised a little more carefully.
