This is a GREAT hate watch! ( SPOILERS! Obv)
Itโs so absurd and nonsensical, i just had to write about it. Now that you have been warned, enjoy the review
From the start to the end, get ready to be inundated with so many inconsistencies and ridiculousness, you will truly feel like a victim of the shaitaan for having stolen 2hours of your life on this movie.
Big props to Ajay Devagan, for somehow finessing this role. After being humiliated multiple times throughout the movie, gets his redemption at the end. He is the worldโs greatest CA after all. Having the presence of mind to record the villainโs voice on a low battery recorder for what seemed liked hours, hack Maddyโs phone to allow tracking locator, then clean hours of audio recordings and splice the right phrases, within minutes. Then launch an audacious rescue attempt, while having a knife stuck in his hand and managing to defeat 3 random trans โbodyguardsโ,Who just stood there and watched while their boss got his tongue ripped out. ADโs final scene trying to illicit some sentimental reactions on the power of the common man, cringy dialogues of a dad being god to their kids and a motherโs power is laughable when they were utterly hopeless throughout the whole ordeal.
Letโs not forget maddyโs exquisite role as shaitaan who equaled if not exceeded ADโs acting. Throughout it all he never really explains the โBlack magicโ part. He seems more interested in cracking jokes, dressing up, playing on his phone, making 108 black dolls and ONE (1) red one. He could have saved so much time by throwing the red one, but dramatic effect and deus ex machina i guess. I expected maddyโs first and overarching rule to be if someone hurts him, Janvi should hurt herself till she dies or something. This would have saved maddy so much of time and wouldnโt have made him get beat up. One lucky and unsuspecting punch to his throat or jaw and his powers to command janvi would have vanquished long ago.
Speaking of Janvi, she seems to have done an overzealous job of following the commands given to her. She was only instructed to kill her brother, but goes around smashing and throwing shit all over the house. Get your shit together Janvi, I thought she was supposed to follow all the commands exactly and not deviate, she chooses at random moments to exert her own will, especially when it doesnโt help anyone.
Special shout out to Dhruv, who survived against all odds. I thought he was a goner when his head got smashed and suffered a major concussion, no one bothered to tie a makeshift bandage on his profusely bleeding head, but he continued to surprise me by surviving the fatal fall and could still tell his dad to save his sister in his precarious state. Just how tough is this kid? Can tell the apple doesnโt fall from the tree. His dad did manage to cycle, bike and hike up the forest and defeat 3 people literally one handed.
Another special shout out the policewoman who appears at the end to give an update on the 108 girls who were kidnapped. I felt the pride in her voice when she said most of the cases were lodged at her station. She surely deserves a major promotion after apprehending the culprit, oh wait didnโt the villain โevadeโ the police again. Whatever the case u just got to admire maddyโs ingenuity for having kidnapped 108 girls, keeping them hidden in the forest for who knows how long with just 3 incompetent henchman. All it took was some random white sweet.
