I love war films first and foremost. The Wall is an Interesting war flick but not because its great. Features ex WWE star John Cena. 2 U.S. snipers try to stay alive as the hunters become the hunted by an Iraqi sniper towards the last day of the Iraqi/Gulf War. Intriguing plot & character study from the viewpoint of Cena's spotter and the Iraqi sniper. Also i like the fact how the film is able to capture your attention using a very simple, low budget set. That's something thats just not done anymore in films these days. And to that i give the filmmakers BIG credit! But It ultimately fails to deliver in the end. The dialogue of Cena's spotter character isn't very believable, especially for elitely trained soldiers: neither are their actions of exposing their position and themselves as they did.Clearly the producers didn't use military advisors on set. One part of me did enjoy the creativity of the ending. Its different. But in the end, my blood runs red, white and blue. Spoiler alert coming here! I don't enjoy seeing too many Americans lose nor get killed(even though its a part of ALL wars/conflicts. It happened in Black Hawk Down and Act of Valor which are 2 amzing films btw. Both those films had hints or elements of American military salvation towards the end ). And how in the hโฌ!! was the iraqi sniper able to shoot down 2 helicopters while concealed in a trash pile with a sniper rifle without revealing his position? With an rpg sure. A sniper rifle? Come on man! Maybe it would hav been more interesting if it were an iraqi zombie sniper they had been battling๐ 2.5 stars out of 5.
