Re Christina Keneally. am I right in saying that she was not publically elected by the people but rather by her mates in the NSW labor party . Can you explain how this works, is it a bit like how Bob Carr became the foreign minister. I believe each state has to have 2 senate representatives and they don't have to go to the people if the current senator leaves prior to the end of his term ie Sam Disaster. so Keneally gets to stay in the senate until her seat is up for re election and then she will find out really how popular or otherwise she really is??
