I've been a fan of Five Nights At Freddy's since the games first came out when I was still a kid and so as you can imagine, I've been wanting this movie for a really long time along with many other long time fans of FNAF.
I was amazed at the film. As someone who is very interested in the lore of FNAF, I went into the film hoping that it was stuck to at least a bit though I already knew that Scott, the legend behind FNAF, had stated that it wouldn't be completely lore accurate. I was not disappointed. The movie wasn't a carbon copy of the games of course however there were a lot of great lore references and it was a huge part of the storyline whilst also not being so strict on it. The movie was a perfect balance of lore and originality, being close enough to the game lore that you could match it up pretty easily but also being unique enough that the whole audience gasped together in surprise at some scenes which we weren't expecting.
I'm honestly way more disappointed with the terrible reviews this movie is getting from critics who have no idea about FNAF itself than I was with the movie.
I also feel like the balance of gore and horror was pretty great! I think they definitely could've gotten away with more gore with the UK 15 rating the movie had however I also know that fnaf was never meant to be extremely gory or dark in terms of visuals. Gore wasn't a big thing in the games so it makes sense why it wasn't in the movie.
I do think that a few scenes could've been done better such as the springlock scene however it was still great and that's just my personal preference.
Overall, I think it was amazing. I'd give it a 5/5 or a 9/10. Well done Scott, you've made us FNAF fans proud!
