The setting and theme of this miniseries is confusing to me. Since it is set during the early years after the silent film era...it can't be an actual account of the way Hollywood was. Is it Hollywood going back and saying "this is how we should've done it"? Or "this is the way we would've done it"?...the latter is certainly a lie, one that the current holier than thou Hollywood elites would tell. But cheap shots at the south aside, which was dealing with post civil war issues no one outside of it would understand, this show is so out of touch. Do they really think black Americans of that era cared who won Academy awards? They were more interested in published writers, political icons and war heroes. But leave it to Hollywood to place themselves in such a high place. The acting was good, the characters were gross, the fact they were all involved in trading sex for cash, cheating on eachother and so on. It's so interesting to me that in a time of cancel culture, they are so willing to turn a blind eye to such moral looseness and focus on the good the characters did. Anyway, a 1 star rating because I like more realistic content, this was just weird and not believable to me.
