It took about 300 pages to realize this, but Grisham doesn't write realistic female dialogue and that is why the main character of Mercer was so dull. Funny, since Mercer--a writer--stated she doesn't like to read male authors.
The theft and hiding by the perps was a great plot, and then all that disappears along with the manuscripts as soon as the recovery plot is introduced.
The ending was rushed and too clean.
