Nice CGI and nice look at Ryan Reynolds, but it makes no sense. They start with a video camera filming to make memories of happy family times of painting, telling stories and a child pretending to be Tina Turner (not a screen in sight). Implies 1980s time period, but fast forward to the present and it becomes clear this beginning section must have been around 2017, Then the child is allowed to wander NYC and Brooklyn alone and anything that is remotely surprising or shocking (not to the audience) is met with 'Oh my God, Oh God, I swear to God'. This happened many times. No spoilers but for anyone who has seen any Disney film you will know what happened to the mother and anyone who has seen the Sixth Sense will be able to apply this to rest of the film. All in all not very good. Over this rainy half term children preferred Garfield.
