My husband & I have been fans of The Chosen since day one. The Chosen depicts the Bible in such a beautifully real and heart moving way that we have never seen before. During an exceptionally trying year in our lives it has been amazing to see and feel the words of Jesus in such a personal way. God has begun a movement that is spreading the gospel around the world!
That being said, I am severely, completely, and utterly disappointed. Christmas with The Chosen was completely out of character. The first 3/4 of the episode is a concert and not a concert done well. The performances are clearly all about the singers and the outfits, jumping around, foggy stages, camera angles zoomed in on faces and bodies, and tons of repetition. It was not only bad it was boring. The exception being the first song by Cain called "The Commission" and "How Great Thou Art" by the Bonner family. Both of those were outstanding. Then the actual episode was short and minimal with very little of the usual inspirational impact. The storyline itself was choppy, vastly made up, and underwhelming. What happened? This should have been a TV special if anything and not something people paid tickets for in theaters. I would rather have donated that wasted money to The Chosen directly then flush it on tickets that I regret purchasing.
One terribly bad episode won't ruin my love of The Chosen. I will still be a supporter, huge fan, and prayer partner. However, I hope this is not a sampling of things to come. Dallas Jenkins, please don't change what you already do well. This is not The Chosen. This is not what has drawn millions of people to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. You have a gift. God is using you to open hearts and draw people to Himself.
