Storyline of wife's search for her missing husband (thought dead) is endearing only to uncover all kinds of secrets/unknowns that didn't exist in her cushy world. But what makes this suck is the main character (Georgia's) consistent disregard for the reality of what the show is trying to portray. She is brazen in the face of danger, which sounds good in theory, but people have already died because of it - but not her even after multiple "encounters" with moments where she should have been shot. For me, it only reiterates the truth of how white woman are able to navigate the world without regard for anyone else as long as their needs or pursuits are satisfied. There is a parallel story happening showing us the danger and truth of what happened to her husband, she is learning of the devil that lives inside of the man she's chasing, yet she just keeps moving like that does not apply to me. Hence the multiple robberies, but she somehow still has her things; meeting of strangers who just can't seem to resist helping her, or her willingness to just go out her own with no real supplies in foreign (African) jungle saturated in a civil war within civil wars. But somehow she just keeps lucking up. It's just not real. This aspect for me kills all of the other elements that are so well done (writing between villain and young girl rebel soldier; the realities of forced militia life; the true story of the crash).
I just see so many ways she can still be the heroin without it looking like she got an escalator ride to the ultimate goal.
