I too am a huge fan of the books and was looking forward to the film, it should have adapted well from book to film. However this should have been a series with the options of continuing with the other books so the characterization was more developed and understood. For example, the character of Bogdan was mishandled in the movie. Following in the book of why he killed Curran and agreed to be the handyman, etc at the beginning, you didn't like him and knew he was guilty of something. However as the book progresses and digs deeper into his relationship with Elizabeth and Stephen you learn to love him and root for him! I loved his friendships and how he becomes a recurring character. I also agree that the character of Chris is not developed enough, he just looks like a fat, ineffective slob in the movie, when there was so much more to him and his partnership with Donna. However sticking mostly to the characters and the twists and turns in the murder plots from the book plus the stellar performances from the main four characters saved this movie. It was entertaining and fun. Just hoped they set it up enough to continue with the other books!
