First off let me note that I have not been a fan of Will Ferrellโs films. However a friend recommended this documentary to me this evening. Additionally, I am a trans woman myself in baby stages. So I gave this documentary a shot.
This is the true story of Will and his friend Harper going on a road trip across country shortly after Harper has come out to will and after one of her augmentations. This film is very moving as it explores the difficulties, fears, burdens and prejudices that a person of trans experience must endure every day. Harperโs tales personally hit very close to home for me on many occasions. Willโs compassion and empathy for his friend is truly enduring and heartwarming. One could only hope to have a friend base let alone one friend such as Will and many of us do not. His companionship is amazing. This piece highlights the struggles everyone of us must go through every day and continue to survive.
If youโre a person thatโs of trans experience, this is definitely a must watch. If youโre trying to understand us better from outside the window, this will definitely give you a much needed insight and hopefully compassion.
Thank you Harper, thank you Will.
