A beautiful visual representation of Mary Shelley’s allegorical feminist masterpiece. An excellent star studded cast where Hollywood ego is nowhere to be seen. Mia Goth is particularly sensitive to the difficulties of the subtlety of a 19th Century female role. Another Netflix quality movie. ‘Hats off’ to del Toro. A little slow towards the end of the first hour: make a cuppa and get back into it.

Funny with the delicious dry wit of New Zealand, touching pathos without the saccharine sentimentality of Hollywood. Fantastic scenery woven into a heartwarming narrative which transcends age range or target groups. Wonderful performances by all the cast and a gorgeous hint of melodrama, just perfect.
