Such a touching tribute to a kind and generous man. I knew I enjoyed his work, but I didn’t know his backstory. I work with disabled adults and lately I have been introducing him to my adult students through film. I’m not sure I can show them this side of John Candy yet. I sobbed at the end of the documentary, especially when they talked about shutting down the freeway for his service. I’ll have to talk to them about John’s real self as a father, husband and giving friend. I think it is a life lesson they need to hear slowly, as my students are such sensitive people. But they need to see how much he was really like Uncle Buck. Their favorite Jon Candy film so far. Thank you Colin Hanks and group, for this wonderful eulogy.
