An 18 yesr old rich kid that had the least traumatic of experiences. This left me wishing the story was about Sarah or the kid that killed himself. It felt like the writer was trying to add trauma from others stories to make his own seem worse “you might have to leave everything behind.” Jerod was told by someone that did not have any support system. This is something gay kids with real problems actually face. —-Yeah right not for this kid. The other in therapy yes but not Jerod. All in all Jerods breaking point was that he refused to say he was mad at his dad. Not the kid being beaten. Not the Neo Nazi type belittling him in the bathroom- but that he was told to let his anger out about his father. Next! The story would be better if posed from someone with some real trauma. (Not referring to the rape scene- the rape had nothing to do with conversion therapy). I feel like this story was just a rich kid who used it to catapult himself further in life without being someone that truly suffered through anything. Give me a real survivors story. Give me the story of this kids in the house.
