Fun concept for a multiplayer/team based game but muddled in the execution. The Gameplay is fairly repetitive with very little flavor thrown in to diversify the experience. Not worth the AAA price tag - not by a long shot. If you can find this on sale for 50% (or somewhere around 30 bucks), I'd say you got your money's worth.
Graphics-wise, it's not a big improvement from Arkham Knight. Facial expressions are weird at times and shading is off when harsh lighting is present - it mostly just looks unpolished at times. I wouldn't say the graphics are bad, just not much better than the 2015 game that preceded it, so, a bit underwhelming tbh.
As far as the story goes... Awful. Some parts are comical but, by and large, the dialogue is insufferable at times and the story itself disrespects the OG heroes horrifically. The most problematic being Batman. This is Kevin Conroy's Batman and this is set as canon in the "Arkham" universe. They took an entire generation of games, dating back to 2009, and ripped the heart out of it. And for no apparent reason. It's never really clear why this story needed to be told because the writing team doesn't seem to understand the lore of the characters they are writing for, based on the numerous character inconsistencies seen throughout the whole of this game. It's almost like they created this game to intentionally antagonize people who love the OG heroes in favor of D list characters like Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang... Not too mention the tragedy they perpetrated against the Arkham Batman. I don't think I've ever seen a developer do anything this heinous to their own, universally beloved, character like Rocksteady did to that Batman in this game.
+2 for the gameplay being mid, at best
-3 for the story ruining the experience and treating the soul out of a beloved franchise.
Tl;dr - Gameplay is ok, story blows hard. Purchase at your own risk. Not recommended if you're an Arkham Universe fan.
