Season one was a moderately interesting period piece. Season 2 was disastrously bad, with implausible plot twists, bizarre and disturbing sexual sadism, meandering narration, and romanticized idealizations of indigenous Americans. Helen Mirrenโs acting was consistently excellent, in contrast to the amateurish performances by the other actors.
