I think a lot of the issues with this film are about expectation management. Don't go into it expecting Finding Nemo or a long form narrative. If you've ever been to the animation shorts at a film festival it is more akin to that. We went as a family and all really enjoyed it, our kids don't get a lot of screen time apart from a family movie once every couple of weeks (our kids are 7 and 3 years) and are more familiar with the likes of Studio Ghibli than much of the school holiday viewing on at the moment. We really appreciated having an alternative style of movie to go and see on the big screen, especially one rated G. It was a creative and unique take on one of Alison Lester's classics.
