Nomadland was depressing. Although the film had amazing direction and acting I was hoping it would show a happy side to being a van dwelling nomad. Instead it was a drawn out depressing movie with no happy ending. I mean what is the purpose of this movie. I am sure there are van dwellers that are happy in real life but this didn’t illustrate this. The story of Fern was seriously depressing and confronting. I would still recommend seeing this movie but be prepared. Although the main character Fern is not someone that could have an Idle life in the suburbs the alternative of being a van dweller was focused on sadness not freedom and happiness.
