For audience who care for thought provoking cinema, #Uma enthralls, mesmerises and glues them to the masterpiece of a film by Srijit Mukherjee!! After watching the film for a second time, my whole family claims we haven't watched anything like it in recent past!
Allured by a stellar cast ensemble, I went to the movie prepared to shed many a tear for a terminally ill child. But what I came back with was a numb mind and a heart brimming with hope and positivity! The film delves deep into human psyche showcasing the grandeur of humanity in an otherwise aloof, apathetic society!!
With #Uma, Srijit Mukherjee presents new age cinema...a complete package with crisp, clean dialogues, high end acting by a dexterous cast, apt body language congruous to the scenes, a dazzling Durga puja hurriedly created by sheer will power!!! Enchanting cinematography deftly captures the ethereal glamour and glitz of our beloved Kolkata during Durgotsav!!
Coming to the actors...Jisshu Sengupta excels himself with every film I suppose. Not for a moment I felt he was enacting a scene. He was living the character...solicitude for the ailing daughter palpable in every frame! Sara Sengupta was a revelation. Superb yet very naturalistic acting will take the dainty little protagonist a long way!
However, the "Master of the game"is no doubt Anjan Dutt. Anjan Dutt needs no ornate adjectives to define his acting prowess. Yet, decades after Chalchitro or Kharij, his skills have been re-explored by a "gem of a director" placing the sexagenarian on top of the ladder!!!
Rudranil, Babul Supriyo, Anirban, Srabanti, Ambarish Bhattacharya et al give laudable performances.
Last but certainly not the least, soul stirring, mellifluous music by Anupam Roy add yet another feather to the much adorned cap of #Uma.
In a nutshell #Uma is one-of-a-kind film and is etching new dimensions in the history of film industry! People from all age groups are being magnetically attracted to #Uma compelling them to go back to the plexes multiple times! A MUST WATCH !!!
