This game is fantastic. One of the best storylines of any game in my opinion, only outshined by its predecessor. It’s like playing a Scorsese movie, where every line is delivered with intent and enthusiasm. The clarity and draw distance of the game is noticeable better. If you play the original on 360 on a 4K tv like I have, it’s blurry and pixelated. This game fixes that and looks much better.
It’s not a perfect remaster though, cutting away some details that made the game so flawless back in 2010. For one, the eyes are weird and sometimes look elsewhere during cutscenes like an autistic child, ruining the cinematic, character driven cutscenes. The clothing is also static now, and no longer flows in the wind and reacts to your movements. This causes glitches in cutscenes too, and ruins the immersion. Long coats cling to your legs rather than swing freely as you walk and run around now too, which is lazy. It almost makes me just want to fire up the 360 again.
Gunplay is surprisingly better now, and recoil is reduced. The reticle provides a tighter grouping of shots and guns are easier to control including the shotgun, which was pretty much garbage in the original release. The shotgun now has a tighter reticle, allowing it to actually be useful in gunfights. Landing one-shots with it consistently is much easier, and ever other firearm is much easier to use.
