Under the Dome was a great dystopian TV show, at first. “Under the Dome” starts off in a small town called “Chester’s Mill” in the outskirts of Maine. All of a sudden, a large “dome” falls on top of the little town, trapping everyone inside. As things go on, we see the town start to fall apart as people begin to steal, lie, and kill. This was all very realistic as to what people would do trapped in a fishbowl. The town starts to come up with theories about the Dome and many think its the government. Dale, played by Mike Vogel, was seen to be the town’s protector in these times because of his military background. I also loved the character Julia played by Rachelle Lefevre. Her character was seen as a leader in this show, and she was the best actor in my opinion and kept the show realistic. He was also dating Julia, and together I believe they were supposed to be the hero’s of Chester’s Mill before everything went south. I also loved the LGBTQ+ representation in this show with one main character, Caralyn, played by Aisha Hinds, being a married lesbian with a daughter. There is a lot more to say about this show, like a lot more, but I cannot write THAT much. My huge complaint with this show is it starts off realistic with super well written characters, then turns into a crazy, alien, super power type of show. It starts to turn into a completely different show with ghosts, aliens, zombies, killer butterflies, blood rain, and other un-reliastic things. For example, half-way into the show you think they made it out of the Dome. This goes on for AWHILE and we see all the characters' new lives. All of a sudden, they wake up, and they're in alien cocoons underneath Chester’s Mill (still inside the dome) and they’re being fed alien goo into their brains by Christine, played by Marg Helgenberger, who is a sci-fi alien clan leader? See, confusing? Also, towards the end of the show, basically ALL the main and secondary characters have died. So, at the end, there’s just a bunch of new characters (like Christine for example.) Big Jim, played by Dean Norris, nailed his role as the town’s corrupt political figure. He was very much meant to be the villain at first, but as the show went on, he became just another character when he was clearly made to be some-sort of villain at first. This show feels like two whole shows smashed together. The story was way too unreal with the whole cocoon and alien part and the whole idea of Big Jim's thirst for power that he was willing to remain alone in Chester's Mill. Also, the whole story of Christine being the alien “township” clan leader was awful and bored me. She magically impregnates a random town person to have a “queen” alien baby to lead the “township” after she passes. It was super weird, these aren’t even the weirdest parts. The end of the show was the worst ending I’ve ever seen, but they did escape the dome (for the third time shown in this show?).
