This movie is best summed up as FPS Action Video Game: the Movie.
But it's actually really good because it wasn't the main direction Ilya wanted to go he actually just wanted to make a kickass pov action movie based on his music video.
This movie (as I think every positive comment will still bring up) isn't that deep. If you're expecting some kind of '1917' or 'Schindlers list' level storytelling and emotional drama this is NOT that film; nor should it be.
(Not to sell Ilya short as his abilities have been shown to improve quite a bit with work such as 'Nobody' being more popular and recent)
This film is like a great rollercoaster not in that it's emotional but in the fact it's nothing but adrenaline throughout the runtime while getting in some jokes with a decent amount of character growth that makes this collection of stunts a movie. (By the way, the villain is a real douche but I think that's just good acting and storytelling which I guess succeeded as I hate the guy.)
Really there's no way to describe this movie properly without making some of its best strengths seem like a weakness. This movie knows what it is and embarrasses it and if you can do so early this is one of THE MOST fun viewing experiences I've ever had.
Also, the ending is a little weird but honestly, I think it's the only way to have ended the film anything else would have been way too indulgent.
Just don't expect any of it to make you go on some kind of Iroh from ATLA-style journey of self-discovery.
