This book has the same spine-tingling suspense and dark atmosphere of an old fashioned gothic romance. We have the trope of the innocent heroine giving herself up to the gorgeous and dangerous hero—who turns out to be a vampire, and who, literally, rips off her nightgown in one scene. But that’s not to say Scarlett, as the heroine, is conventional in any way. In fact, Scarlett’s uniqueness is one of the best things about Vampire Night. She’s definitely a socially awkward book nerd. And because of the fact that she’s treated badly by her co-workers (due to her awkwardness) it is all the sweeter when the ‘cooler than cool’ Devon falls for her and sweeps her off her feet.
