A very bad translation. I’m a Greek scholar. Every time a deity of Jesus is obviously manifest in the Scripture, the New World Translation always purposefully translates a verse in a manner which allows the doctrine of Watch Tower save their face. For example, in Hebrews 1:8, the Greek reads “And to (pros not epi ‘about’) the Son…”. Why? Because the rest of the verse explicitly proclaims Jesus God. Furthermore, there is no rule in Greek that unarthrous ‘theos’ (without an article (a, an, the in English) is ‘god,’ whereas with an article should be rendered ‘God.’ The proof is 2 Corinthians 4:4. In this verse ‘theos’ (god) is with a definite article. The rule was invented to circumvent John 1:1.2. But if we apply this non-existing rule to 2 Corinth. 4:4, we get that satan is God. It would benefit them to see that the “rule” is not always serve their cause…
