Absolutely brilliant - but I admit to being a huge Mick Herron fan, having read pretty much everything he's written! I'm only upto episode 4 at present but the casting, translation of the books to TV and the overall production standards are all first class. To those complaining about a perceived lack of direction and assumed knowledge I would agree that having read the entire series does put one is in a better position to 'place' characters and story lines appropriately. However, should this enterprise be the success that it deserves to be then the characters, the nuanced relationships and back-stories will begin to fill in any perceived gaps. Can't wait for the remaining episodes to become available and really hoping the show is extended to cover more of Mick Herron's fantastic stories in this series.
