Let’s start with the fact that adapting books from movie is difficult and so seeing a series in which it is done well is extreme promising for the future and continuation of series and books going hand in hand with Disney.
Something I appreciate is the fact that This series is different from the books and that’s something that I feel many negative viewers do not seem to understand, yes everyone loves an adaption but seeing the exact same thing as written is dull and if you want that experience just read the book the important part of an adaption is to capture the essence of the book and allows the author to fix things they wanted to do while writing and portray a different aspects of each character but with still including the main points in it. This is the authors series not yours what they say goes. Something else I have seen talked about in the series is the actors chosen for the show and I would just like to point out how Grover in the movie was not a guy with ginger hair and pale skin and most people didn’t go to crazy about it even if Rick did not approve- but with the series when they are canonically casted by Rick it’s a huge issue? Let’s just say that yes how a character looks can be important in some parts such as Nico de Angelo and Bianca, if they are not Italian it changes the entire character but with a character like Annabeth, her race did not affect her character meaning no matter how she was portrayed it is still Annabeth, now I would have loved to see her with blond tips I understand why they did not as the amount of bleach that would be put in her hair would be so damaging for someone her age. I get that die hard fans love to see Annabeth with blond hair and gray eyes and Percy with black hair but as stated in the first part, this is an adaption not an exact replica and we should understand and accept that. (Also shout out to the fandom for the cute idea of them reincarnating as versions of one another- referencing the Japanese legend of your currant face being the one you fell in love with in a past life). But those are the only two bad points I have seen on the matter of the series there are some minor people pointing out how it’s not perfect and that it feels rushed but no matter what they make people will always say that, in my opinion though it is extremely well thought out with the amazing camera and lighting signifying each scenes emotion, the script writing being accurate to the characters, and the actors embodying the essence of them on the screen I adore this series and can’t wait for future seasons.
(Also let us remember THIS IS NOT HARRY POTTER SO PLEASE STOP COMPAIRING!! Harry Potter will never reach the level that this series is on so if I hear anyone comparing the two as they aren’t even close)
