I had just watched Chaos Walking when I looked down at my phone to see that this movie had a 21% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, personally, this movie is awesome, although I would say it should be highly acclaimed. If your looking for a movie with good action, acting, visuals, and world building, this is the movie you need to watch. (DISCLAIMER: if you did not watch the movie yet I am going to be adding some spoilers from here on out). Usually its distracting when an actor who plays an iconic or popular role is in a film like this one, but I had no trouble with Tom holland and Daisy Ridley in this movie, the performances were excellent. Action scenes, which there were plenty of, did not fall short. Most of them were tense and had lots on the line. For example when Todd loses his dog, I did NOT see that coming and I felt hurt or heartbroken in some way. This movie really got me to feel for Todd’s family and it really hurt when they all died, including the dog. The visuals for “the noise” were not that bad and I thought it was really cool how Todd used the noise as a weapon, like the Mayor (I don't really know his name, I think its David). I especially love when the noise was used for comedic relief, when Todd is picturing him and Viola kissing, the whole theatre was cracking up. The story behind the women from Prentisstown and their disappearance is a great motivation for Todd in the end. The men of the town clearly were very paranoid and cruel. Todd trusted the Mayor but turns out he was Todds real enemy, which is a gut wrenching truth. Todd went through A LOT in this movie, he lost everybody he loved, found out his mother was murdered by the man he looked up to, and also went through a lot of physical pain. What this movie does great is being subtly woke and I like it. Todd’s guardians are a gay couple and the female characters like Viola and the Mayor of the other town (don't remember the name). My only problem was that I wanted to see more action with Viola, her only fight scene was really with the Priest and she stood around for all the other fights. They also left a bunch of threads loose like the alien race, are they actually the hostile creatures the men of Prentisstown actually say they are? What about Nick Jonas’ character? Did they ever kiss? Overall the Movie was amazing and I would definitely watch it again, maybe even buy it on DVD, and with where they left off, a sequel would be possible, and I give my support for one, would definitely see it!
