If you are a music lover, especially a Queen fan, you will love everything about this movie and would have witnessed the best act there ever was. If you are a movie critic, you will find flaws in the story line but still not in the performances or direction. Even then this movie must have moved you and left a lump in your throat and even after every best efforts, you couldn't have stopped tears filling your eyes, your hands wanting to clap, your lips wanting to sing and your whole body getting goosebumps. This is undoubtedly one of the most impactful movies I have seen in a while. I couldn't stop listening to Queen and today is the third day after I watched it. Bohemian Rhapsody keeps playing in my head, while I do my chores, walk around the park or even when I sleep.
Brilliant performance by Rami Malek and everyone who was casted to play the band members and Mary Austin. Even the cats were perfect. I am going back to watch again today. I think I need more good things in life and this is just that.
Queen wasn't even my favorite band. Frankly all these years I didn't know if I had a favorite band. I loved them all equally, especially the ones that played in 60s,70s,80s. But sitting through this movie, listening to all the hits, some of which I didn't know were actually Queen originals, I wondered what more could I ask from a band to be my favorite. As a solo artist, I have always maintained that I love no one as much as I love Michael Jackson. I grew listening to his music. No amount shaming him has ever changed my opinion or feelings about this legend.
So getting out of the theater, after sitting through the entire credits roll out of Bohemian Rhapsody, I asked myself, "what would it be to watch a well made movie on Michael Jackson". I am excitedly scared of that thought. It will make me vulnerable but probably the happiest that I can ever be.
