It’s like watching a live action episode of Superman: The Animated Series from the 90s. It’s fantastic and fun.
Gone are the days of the “dark and gritty” DC movies. Why? Because Superman doesn’t need to be exactly like Batman (brooding all the time). This is a character that does what he thinks is the right thing to do. Plus it’s a lot of fun.
Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner is a surprisingly good fit. You could tell he was having fun with the character.
Rachel Brosnahan is perfect as Lois Lane. She has the looks and the chops. Plus, just like in the comics, she’s not a damsel in distress.
Our new Superman? Light hearted with the world on his shoulders at the same time. This is an actor who put everything he had into the role and gave us a grounded character who was actually Clark Kent doing what was right, not Superman hiding himself from the world. His portrayal echos Tyler Hoechlin’s in Lois and Clark (which got Lois and Clark just right).
It’s nice to see a Superman movie where Supes is having fun and not isolated from the world in some shape or another.
If you think there’s a political motive in this movie then you’ve been hijacked by conservative media and the anti-woke mob. Read a comic from the last 30 years. Superman is an international figure of hope, not a character that supports a specific political view. He’d stand for Truth, Justice, and The American Way if The American Way was currently under attack by corporate interests, fascist ideology, and wannabe dictators run amok. If you think it’s a political statement, look within yourself and then look up for a better tomorrow.
