Spoiler Alert !!! ..Dont watch this movie as a sci-fi or like the genre's of any other space genre movies you have seen except for maybe 2001 a space odyssey. Watch it strictly for the genres its tagged to. It is true to these genres Drama and Fantasy. If you go fact mongering you wouldn't appreciate it. The space part of the movie is actually vague and with no explanations. It's more the human emotions and the emotions the families of these explorers face. The movie shows how our early life manifests and influences what we become or how we sub consciously treat people. The acting by Brad Pitt is amazing. The movie revolves a lot around the psyche and testing its limits. How long can someone pursue a dream/belief before he pulls the plug or maybe becomes insane? For someone looking with the sci-fi perspective you might have questions regarding the moon pirates. How did we end up having them. How did they have water in Mars (not the poles) even before it is discovered there? How did Mr. Pitt manage the ascent into the ship? What was the anti matter being used for in a SETI experiment? Why and how was it unleashed and why hasn't it already devoured the ship or caused any power surges to the Lima project space ship where it continues to emit the rays. The biggest of all is the time taken for the expeditions. Moon Mars and Neptune. It's insane even if you consider that we are moving towards the sun the max speed we achieved is 430000 mph which would take 272 days( but in reality we are moving away from it) to cover the metric discussed in the movie 2.8 billion miles for the Neptune voyage. But Mr. Pitt reaches Neptune in 79-80 days. Well these are just a few in many illogical unexplained technology stuff you would find in the movie hence it is a true fantasy movie as most of it is probably not possible in many upcoming generations of mankind.
