Following the relatively upbeat conclusion of Dominion which showed us Dinosaurs and Humans learning to Coexist and adapting to a modern world, this movie decided to deviate from that conclusion, reverse course, and drive off the nearest cliff. I honestly hated that they essentially killed off the mainland dinosaurs, which was a huge concern in the books, and instead reduced them to a tropical threat. Don’t get me wrong, fitness to the modern world was a concern in the books, but this just felt like a slap in the face after Dominion.
The action/horror aspects were welcome additions to Jurassic, as it offers a different experience. It’s not like I wasn’t open to that. But the plot felt weak, the way they took out the dinosaurs and the change in society’s view towards them just felt off.
